Sledges in SChools 

Sledge Hockey is an innovative sport that follows the same rules and discipline structure as stand-up ice hockey. Players sit on specially designed sleds with skate blades beneath the seat and use two sticks to pass, stickhandle, shoot, and propel themselves across the ice. Originally designed for people with physical disabilities, sledge hockey has evolved into an inclusive sport open to everyone—whether or not they have a disability.

Our Sledges in Schools (SIS) program is all about promoting inclusion and encouraging students to try something new! Offered in Edmonton and Northern Alberta, SIS provides equipment for individuals or groups of all abilities. We share background on the history, equipment, rules, and strategies of sledge hockey. Students get hands-on experience as they hop into a sledge, participate in drills and games, and wrap up with a scrimmage.

Interested in bringing sledge hockey to your school or community? Check out our program options:

**Instructional Visit at Meadows Rec Centre:**

Your group visits the Meadows Rec Centre (West Rink preferred) in Edmonton, Alberta. We provide equipment for up to 28 students and up to two trained instructors to coach your session. The base package is a 2-hour session for $450, with the option to add more time at $150 per additional hour (up to a total of 6 hours). Need more than 28 sleds? Extra sleds are available for $20 each.

**Instructional Visit at The Rink of Your Choice:**

All the benefits of the above package, with the added flexibility of us coming to you! Additional travel fees apply: $185 per day for van rental, $30 per hour for staff travel time, and $0.70/km for mileage beyond 65 km round trip from our office.

**Week-Long Rental (Non-Instructional):**

For a lower-cost option, rent 28 sledges for a full school week (5 days) for $1,250. The school or rink must provide secure storage for the equipment. Need more sledges? Extra sets are available for $100 per week if available. Enhance your rental with a hybrid day—our trained staff can lead half the first day for $600 or the full day for $1,000. Travel fees apply as above.
